A 76-year-old man has been arrested after crashing into and seriously injuring a number of runners in Tattenhall.

Police are appealing for witnesses following a serious crash on Burwaldsley Road, Tattenhall.

At 8.10pm on Tuesday 20 January, a Jeep Wrangler mounted the verge along Burwaldsley Road and collided with a group of runners.

Several people were injured, with hospital treatment required for a number of them.

At least two people have been seriously injured.

The driver of the Jeep, a 76-year-old man, has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.

Inspector Andy Dennison said: "Cheshire police are treating this incident as a road traffic collision. I'd urge anyone who witnessed the collision and has not yet spoken to police to contact us.

"The same goes for anyone who was driving in the area or Burwardsley Road and saw the runners or the Jeep."
