A man has been hospitalised with a serious head injury after being assaulted in Chester city centre.

Officers are now appealing for witnesses to come forward.

At 4.13am on Saturday 24 January, police were called to reports of an assault in Watergate Street, Chester, in which a 43-year-old man had suffered a serious head injury.

He was then taken to hospital, where he remains at this time.
