Storyhouse's bold and powerful new production of Macbeth is now open after a successful opening weekend.

Running until Saturday 21 March, the drama is a Storyhouse Originals production - the venue's strand of vibrant and imaginative homegrown productions.

Adapted and directed by Jamie Sophia Fletcher, Shakespeare's iconic tragedy is presented on Storyhouse's intimate 'thrust' stage, with bold and dramatic set and lighting design by Andrew Exeter.

The production marks a return of Shakespeare to Storyhouse, and will also be the first of several productions during 2026 - with Storyhouse in the Park taking over Grosvenor Park this summer and a gripping new production of Mrs Dalloway.

"I'm thrilled Macbeth is now open at Storyhouse – Jamie Sophia Fletcher's exhilarating new adaptation and Andrew Exeter's striking and immersive set design are both absolutely stunning," said Storyhouse creative director, Suzie Henderson.

"We enjoyed a fantastic opening weekend, with a palpable buzz not only among theatregoers but throughout the building, and I can't wait now to share this bold new Storyhouse Originals production with audiences over the next two weeks."

Robin Morrissey appears as Macbeth while Yolanda Ovide is Lady Macbeth.

The cast also includes Mika Onyx Johnson as Macduff, Roly Botha as Lady Macduff and Nishad More as Banquo, along with Tasha Dowd (Lennox), Francesca Hughes (Caithness), Pete MacHale (Ross), Mark Mackinnon (Duncan), Ioan O'Neill (Donaldbain), Kameron Skeene (Malcolm) and Jacob Conor (Angus). The three witches are played by Roly Botha, Motheo Maloma and Evie Woodward.

All other parts are played by members of the cast, while several young actors from the Storyhouse Youth Theatre also appear.
