Lord Mayor of Chester cuts ribbon for Peter Pan themed school Library
On Monday November 18, the Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr Razia Daniels, visited Grosvenor Park CofE Academy for the grand opening of its new school library.
Inspired by Peter Pan, the space is designed to inspire imagination and foster a love of reading.
Students showed Cllr Daniels around the reading space, which includes an extensive book collection and woodland-themed seating area.
She said: "This library is truly magical.
"The hard work and creativity behind it are clear, and it's a wonderful place for the children to develop a lifelong love of reading."
The Lord Mayor has also invited the children to visit Chester Town Hall for a tour.
To help fund the project, the school held events including a school disco and a pyjama day, where staff and pupils donned their favourite pyjamas and slippers.
It was also made possible by the support of the Parent Teacher Friends Association (PTFA).
The library features a tree centrepiece, handcrafted by Nigel Little, the facilities team leader for North West Academies Trust (NWAT), who has managed the school since 2018.
Headteacher, Karen Rodgers, said: "The Peter Pan theme perfectly captures the power of imagination and adventure.
"This library is a fantastic space where our children can dream, learn, and explore.
"We are grateful to the PTFA, Mr Little and everyone who helped make it happen.
"It was an honour to welcome the Lord Mayor to our school, the children loved meeting her and hearing about her role and responsibilities.
"We would all like to thank her for taking the time to visit us and we can't wait to visit the Town Hall to hear more about the history of the role."
