The face behind The Chester Blog will host his fourth charity quiz at Chester Market later this month.

Hosted by Richard Trotter on Sunday 28 September, the event is in aid of the Extra Mile Appeal, which aims to raise £250,000 to provide additional equipment for wards across the Countess of Chester Hospital.

There will be activities inside the market from 5pm onwards, including music, portrait drawing from artist Tim Foxon and a half-time dance performance from Poise dance studio.

A raffle is also on the cards with many local businesses having donated prizes, such as Picturehouse, Cavani Menswear, Scented Garden, Bookingham Palace and Brow HQ.

Whilst the Countess of Chester trust provides essential equipment for patient care, the staff-led campaign is about giving staff more tools to deliver that care more efficiently.

The project grew from a conversation on the acute medical assessment unit when a ward sister revealed the difficulty of working with just one bladder scanner, which is often loaned out to other departments "up to 20 times a day".

The Countess of Chester Hospital added: "Like many wards, they regularly share ECG machines, blood pressure monitors and other key pieces of equipment.

"Imagine the difference if each ward had their own dedicated equipment. Faster diagnosis. Quicker discharges. Fewer delays. Improved infection control. More time for patient care.

"Together, we can give our incredible NHS staff more of the tools they need and help more patients, faster. Let's go the Extra Mile - because sometimes, a little extra makes all the difference."

The event kicks off at 6.30pm, with entry priced at £3 per person.
