Progress is being made on a new state-of-the-art school being built in the Kings Moat Garden Village.

The Kings Moat Primary School, Chester, is being built in the Kings Moat Garden Village and has been commissioned by Cheshire West and Chester Council.

The village is a substantial new community of around 1,300 homes on the southern edge of Chester.

Once complete, the school will sit centrally within the development, located close to the new community playing fields, 3G pitches and public park.

With its opening date set for September 2026, the Sandstone Trust has been appointed to run the school. The academy trust already manages four schools in the Cheshire West and Chester area.

The school's 210 places it will offer will be open to residents of the Kings Moat housing development, off Wrexham Road.

Councillor Adam Langan said: "It's exciting to see this brand-new school progressing so well and the construction works are on schedule, which is great news."

Applications for residents to apply for Reception 2026 opened on 1 September and will close 15 January 2026. Parents wanting to apply for year one and two will apply for an in-year application.
