Free Christmas event at Chester Castle this weekend
This Saturday (30 November) Chester Castle and Agricola Tower are hosting their last event of 2024, for their annual Christmas celebration at the castle.
From 11am to 4pm, and 5pm to 7pm, guests can enjoy the sights and smells of Christmas throughout the ages.
With free entry, there will be displays of 800 years of Christmas history, from medieval feasting to First World War soldiers, Victorian carols, medieval music.
Guests can also expect storytelling and the chance to meet Father Christmas.
There will also be the chance to pick up second hand books from the castle's bookshop as a sustainable Christmas present.
This weekend's event will commence at 11am and is the final event of the castle's festivities.
Agricola Tower is a 12th century tower, and was the first stone gateway to Chester Castle, which was founded by William the Conqueror in 1070.
On the first floor is the chapel of St Mary de Castro, which contains some wall paintings from about 1240.
By climbing the nearby stairs to the wall-walk, you can appreciate the castle's position within the city.
