Fix it for free: Chester Repair Café returns this weekend
By Dherran Titherington 15th Apr 2026
Chester Repair Café returns to Hoole Community Centre this Saturday (18 April).
The popular monthly event encourages people to bring along faulty or damaged items to be repaired for free by a team of skilled volunteers - helping to cut down on waste while saving money.
Items such as toasters, trikes, computers and clothing can be fixed on the day, with volunteers on hand to help restore well-loved possessions.
The session will run from 10.30am to 12.30pm and visitors are asked to bring one item at a time. While repairs are free, donations towards running costs are welcomed.
A spokesperson said: "We're back again on Saturday at Hoole Community Centre and we'll have repairers able to work on small electricals (no microwaves), bikes, clothes, teddies and computers.
"So save your stuff from landfill, save yourself some money, and have some tea and cake while you do it."
The Repair Café movement began in Amsterdam in 2009, with the Repair Café International Foundation established the following year. The organisation now supports community repair groups across the world, including the Chester branch.
