Dispersal order in force as Chester prepares for busy race weekend
By Dherran Titherington 26th Jun 2026
There will be an increased police presence in Chester this weekend.
An influx of visitors is expected in the city centre due to a fixture at Chester Racecourse. As a result, a dispersal order will be in place from 12:30pm on Friday 26 June until 12:30pm on Sunday 28 June 2026.
The order gives officers the power to direct individuals to leave the designated area and not return for up to 48 hours, where there is a risk of anti-social behaviour.
It has been imposed under Section 34 of the Anti-social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014.
A map showing the affected area will be provided to anyone issued with a direction to leave.
Cheshire Police said there will also be an increased presence across the city to help tackle any potential anti-social behaviour.
Inspector James Wilson said: "This weekend it will be incredibly busy in Chester, paired with the hot weather, and while we hope everyone enjoys their time here, we hope they do so safely and look out for each other.
"As well as an increased police presence, there will be a dispersal order in place which serves as an additional tactical option that allows us to directly combat anti-social behaviour head on, before it escalates."
Anyone with information about anti-social behaviour in their area is urged to contact Cheshire Police via the Cheshire Police website or call 101.
