The Countess of Chester Hospital is highlighting the support available to local families during World Breastfeeding Week.

Families can access feeding advice, workshops and one-to-one support throughout pregnancy and after birth, with help available both in hospital and at home.

Maternity staff support parents with their baby's first feed, providing guidance on feeding, bonding and recognising their baby's needs. Further support is available through follow-up calls, home visits, clinics and local support groups.

The Trust has also introduced dedicated feeding facilities in its new Women and Children's Building, including feeding and changing rooms on every floor and a private feeding room in the paediatric waiting area of the Emergency Department.

Emma Harrison, infant feeding lead for maternity services, said: "World Breastfeeding Week is a chance to celebrate the support available to families and raise awareness of where to get help.

"Every family's feeding journey is different. We want parents to know that they don't have to navigate feeding challenges alone, and that support is available whenever they need it."

Specialist support is also available for families whose babies require neonatal care, including feeding support, breast pump loans and personalised feeding plans.

Amy Davies, infant feeding lead for Neonatal Services, said: "For families whose babies need neonatal care, feeding can sometimes feel overwhelming.

"Our aim is to ensure parents feel supported every step of the way and empowered to make the feeding choices that are right for them and their baby."
