Further details about Chester's newest wine and book bar have been revealed, including plans to host events and workshops.

Located on Watergate Row South, Chapters, a brand new independent bookshop and wine bar, is co-owned by Megan Nicolaides and Megan Yapp.

The duo have now submitted a licensing application to Cheshire West and Chester Council, after recently securing a location for the business.

Describing the space as "designed for browsing, reading and relaxed socialising", the application also outlined plans for regular ticketed events at the venue.

This would include author talks, readings and workshops, with a seating capacity of approximately 25-30 customers.

With proposed opening hours listed as 9am to 11pm, the application refers to the business as a "calm bookshop and wine bar in a café-style environment, with a strong emphasis on literature and community."

It added: "Chapters is a combined bookshop and wine/coffee bar, operating primarily as a bookshop with a secondary, ancillary wine and coffee bar offering.

"Alcohol sales will focus on quality wines served by the glass or bottle for on-site consumption, with a small selection of other alcoholic beverages, such as premium canned beers and ciders."

The store layout will be open-plan, featuring fixed book-shelving, customer seating and a fixed bar counter, serving "a limited selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks alongside bar snacks."

Chester Nub News first reported the duo's plans to launch the business last April.

However, the site soon fell through and the initial spring opening date was postponed whilst the team searched for more premises in Chester.

After officially confirming the site, the co-owners told Nub News: "Getting the keys felt surreal - such a mix of relief and excitement.

"We're so happy to finally have a home in Chester and the support we've had already has made this moment even more special.

"We're now cracking on with the fit-out and aiming to open in early 2026. And of course we'll share all the ups and downs as we bring Chapters to life."
