American fast-food restaurant, Chick-fil-A, could be arriving at Chester's Greyhound Retail Park.

A planning application submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council seeks to demolish the currently vacant unit 23, a former Frankie & Benny's restaurant, most recently occupied by furniture retailer, Natuzzi Editions.

The proposed one-storey Chick-fil-A restaurant includes provision for a drive-through lane and 'reconfiguration of the existing car park', which currently has 34 spaces.

To facilitate the drive-through, proposals outline plans to reduce on-site car parking to 20 spaces - including 16 standard bays, two electric vehicle spaces and two accessible bays.

The building, located just opposite the retail park's new IKEA store, would be constructed from modern material palettes, including red brich, dark bronze cladding an timber effect panels.

With headquarters in Georgia, Chick-fil-A, a quick service restaurant specialising in chicken sandwiches, operates restaurants across 48 states - as well as in the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

Founded in 1967 by Samuel Truett Cathy, many of the company's values are influenced by the Christian religious beliefs of its late founder who passed away in 2014.

A devout Southern Baptist, Truett Cathy was committed to Sunday Sabbatarianism, with all Chick-fil-A restaurants closed for business on Sundays, Thanksgiving, and Christmas Day.

Chick-fil-A's website reflects the company's religious values, stating its corporate purpose is "to glorify God by being a faithful steward of all that is entrusted to us. To have a positive influence on all who come in contact with Chick-fil-A".
