Chester's annual Duck Race returns this month

Chester's annual Duck Race returns to the Groves later this month.
Taking place on on Saturday 25 April, the event organised by The Countess Charity is expected to attract around 100 businesses, each decorating and racing their corporate ducks to raise funds for the hospital's Extra Mile Appeal.
The appeal helps provide additional equipment for the Countess of Chester Hospital, such as bladder scanners, ultrasound scanners and ECG machines.
With these items often shared between wards, the appeal will help staff work more efficiently by providing equipment that goes beyond core NHS provision.
Available for attendees of all ages, a range of family-friendly activities will start at 12pm - including face painting, hook-a-duck and colouring - before the ducks take to the water at 3pm.
Competition on the River Dee is expected to be fierce, with prizes awarded for the fastest duck, best-dressed duck, best celebrity lookalike, and the public's favourite as voted on Facebook.
Companies are being encouraged to register their ducks early, with each £275 entry offering businesses the opportunity to design and decorate a large duck in any style.
Hickory's Smokehouse Chester is the main sponsor of the event, with Admiral Taverns supporting the raffle.
The Countess Charity said: "The Chester Duck Race is always a fantastic community event and a great opportunity to get involved locally. Not only is it a fun way to support the Countess Charity, but it's also a great way to promote your business.
"All funds raised go directly to The Countess Charity's Extra Mile Appeal, helping provide extra equipment for The Countess of Chester Hospital over and above NHS provision.
"Join us by supporting a great local cause while bringing the community together for a fun-filled afternoon!"
