Thousands of people are expected to gather in Chester this Saturday for the city's 14th Pride event.

Chester Pride will take over Castle Square on Saturday 15 August, with a full day of entertainment and activities planned from 12pm to 8pm.

The parade will take place at 12pm, making its way through city city centre before the main celebrations continue at Castle Square.

Visitors can expect live entertainment across two stages, as well as market stalls, food and bars, community organisations and dedicated health and support zones.

Among the performers appearing throughout the day are Danny Beard, 911, Adam Rickitt and Sonia, with acts split across the M&S BANK Stage and ICONS Stage.

Kelly Llorena, Lolly, LIPZTIK, Jay Carter Jamieson, DJ Dan Walker, Samira Hills and Richard Sefton will also perform on the M&S BANK Stage, alongside Sabrina Carpenter and Avril Lavigne tribute acts, and the Proud Marys.

On the ICONS Stage, the line-up includes Catrin Feelings, Dave the Bear, Coco Fabulicious, Miss Cherry Good, Gutter, Indigo Spice, Ivy Groove and Mama Tasty.

A temporary traffic order is being introduced across Chester to accommodate the event and parade.

From 11.30am to 1.30pm, closures will affect Castle Street, Lower Bridge Street, Bridge Street, Pepper Street, Watergate Street, Northgate Street, St Werburgh Street, Eastgate Street, Foregate Street, St John Street, Vicars Lane and Love Street.

Castle Street, between Grosvenor Roundabout and St Mary's Hill, will remain closed for longer, from 9am until 8pm.

Two-way traffic will also be introduced on Park Street between Albion Place and Albion Street from 11.30am to 1.30pm. Castle Street, between Lower Bridge Street and St Mary's Hill, will operate in both directions from 10.30am to 8pm.

Parking, loading and unloading will be suspended on parts of St Werburgh Street, Bridge Street, Eastgate Street, Foregate Street and St Johns Street from 8am until 1.30pm.

Pedestrian access to properties on or next to the affected roads will be maintained throughout the closures.
