A popular charity quiz hosted by a well-known Chester Blogger is returning to Chester Market this month, raising much-needed funds for two local charities.

Hosted by local blogger and quizmaster Richard Trotter, 'The Lord Mayor of Chester's Charity Quiz' is set to take place at the market on Sunday 18 January from 5pm.

Trotter is best known for his Twitter account, Sh*t Chester, and website, The Chester Blog, which actively promotes and raises the profile of the city.

Entry to the quiz is £2.50 per person with all proceeds being split equally between the Lord Mayor's chosen charities - Chester Women's Aid and the Heath Youth Club in Upton.

It follows three successful events hosted by Richard in 2025, which raised over £2500 for local causes.

Cllr. Ben Walker, Chair of the Heath Youth Club, said: "The Heath, based out of the United Reformed Church on Heath Road, is a proud Upton youth club for all young people in and around Chester.

"We're a charity and It's been a hard slog but today we can say that every Friday evening during term-time, we open our doors to high school kids looking for something to do.

"We need more money to do better things and to enable us to stay open in the long-term. We need more equipment. And in truth, we could do with a better premises suited to what young people need.

"The youth club isn't dead, It isn't a relic of a bygone generation, It was cut, but now it's back as a charity, and with everyone's support, it's here to stay. I ask all to support it."

The event will also feature a raffle with many generous prizes donated from local businesses, including The Chester Grosvenor Hotel, Bookingham Palace, Axt Haus, Geoff Hughes Butcher, Chester Boutique, The Scented Garden Retreat, Vegan House, Lockwood and Co, The Fresh Pasta Kitchen, Morgans Hair Solutions, Maray, Picturehouse and many more.

The Lord Mayor of Chester, Cllr. Sherin Akhtar, added: "Chester Market is the heart of our city, and this quiz night is a wonderful way to bring people together while supporting charities that make a real difference locally.

"It promises to be a fun, lively evening in one of our most iconic venues - and every team taking part will be helping to change lives in our community."
