Candidates finalised for Cheshire West and Chester by-election

Candidates have been finalised for an upcoming Cheshire West and Chester by-election.
The election was called for 22 January, following the death of veteran Conservative councillor Myles Hogg in November, leaving a vacancy in the Willaston and Thornton ward.
Five candidates will be contesting the seat. They are, in alphabetical order:
- Carol Braithwaite – Liberal Democrats
- Edd Flynn – Labour Party
- Scott Fulton-Brown – Green Party
- Richard Thomas Hare – Reform UK
- Sion Roberts – The Conservative Party
The current makeup of Cheshire West and Chester Council is:
- Labour 35
- Conservative 20
- The Green and Independent Alliance 5
- Independent 2
- Reform UK 3
- Liberal Democrat 1
- Unaligned Independent members 3
- Vacancy 1
The council is currently run by a minority Labour administration.
Registered voters in the ward who wish to vote on the day must take an acceptable form of photo ID with them to the polling station.
