A former Chester eatery on Foregate Street is set to be replaced by a Wirral-based Italian Deli.

Dough&Doppio, an Italian deli serving focaccia sandwiches, pizzas, coffee and cannoli, has confirmed it will open its second location at the site of the former Atina Kitchen.

Owners Blanka and Sebastian Evaszekren, who have lived in Bromborough for 14 years, launched Dough&Doppio in Bromborough in late 2024. The couple are now preparing to open their second site in Chester city centre.

An opening date has not yet been confirmed, although the owners have indicated that the deli will open "very soon"

Atina Kitchen, a family-run independent eatery, closed at the end of 2025 after more than a decade in business.

The restaurant first opened in 2012 and became a popular destination in the city, with an outdoor patio and Art Deco-style interior.

Owner Jake Potter cited the challenging hospitality market for independent businesses when announcing the closure.

He highlighted the pressures facing small hospitality businesses, including the "huge amounts of personal sacrifice" required to remain financially viable.
