A new community-focused wellbeing club has opened in Chester, offering a fresh approach to fitness in later life.

Aluna, a premium wellbeing club from Retirement Villages Group (RVG), has launched at two Thrive Living communities in Cheshire and Surrey, offering a more relaxed and supportive alternative to traditional gyms.

The club is a calm, confidence-building space where guided movement, restoration and genuine connection come together. Guidance is always on hand but never forced, with everything designed to help visitors feel comfortable from their very first visit.

Launching at The Wyldewoods later living community in Chester and Botanical Place in West Byfleet, Aluna is available to all residents as part of everyday life at each Thrive Living community.

A limited number of memberships are also open to people living locally. Numbers are intentionally kept small, to protect the calm and personal atmosphere that defines the Aluna experience.

Every element of Aluna has been designed with intention. Interiors are warm, uncluttered and welcoming spaces where people feel at ease from the moment they arrive.

"Aluna is a vital part of RVGs mission to support healthy ageing and strengthen connections between residents and the wider community," said Thomas Karlsson, chief operating officer at Retirement Villages Group.

"By encouraging routine, confidence and social connection, it helps people live well for longer. Importantly, Aluna is designed to be open, welcoming and intergenerational, creating a sense of community that extends beyond its walls.

"This is a new blueprint for wellbeing in later living, delivering long‑term value while reinforcing our commitment to positive ageing and community health."

At the heart of Aluna is specialist EGYM technology, a guided movement system that uses wearable tech to automatically adjust equipment to each individual's ability, track progress, and remove the guesswork from every session.

The club also offers a studio and wellbeing team, making it ideal for those new to exercise, returning after a break, or looking for a more supported alternative to a conventional gym.

Membership connects people to the wider Thrive Living community, with perks like a 10% discount at The Wyldewoods' Sage restaurant and wellbeing talks.

Located close to towns and established neighbourhoods, Thrive Living communities keep residents connected to local life, and Aluna strengthens that bond by welcoming the wider community in.
