Business Unit: Chief Operating Office Salary Range: £49,600 - £62,000 Location: UK Hybrid, Gosforth and Glasgow Work type: Permanent, Full Time Live up to your potential. Live a life more Virgin. Digital Service Support (DSS) sits within Technical Operations and Cyber Security (TOCS) and is responsible for supporting the bank's digital banking services such as retail and business banking, public websites, and credit cards. Our ideal candidate will have a technical background (Windows Server & RHEL) and a proven track record of leading a team of engineers.

What you'll be doing

  • Lead, manage and develop a team of colleagues, providing direction and leadership on all activities within IT where there is impact/change on own area of responsibility.
  • Take ownership for tactical and strategic change in accordance with agreed standards and time, cost and quality measures. E.g. the migration of services from IBM Cloud to on-premise/Azure and the migration off legacy systems.
  • Defect/Incident/Problem investigation across all environments, validation and resolution within technical specialism(s). Contributing to resolution of all environmental issues.
  • Take responsibility for ensuring that platforms in area of responsibility meet current and future business service availability requirements.
  • Ensure ongoing operation effectives of relevant platform in line with industry best practise and internal standards
  • Ownership for the maintenance, patching, hardware & software and upgrades in line with relevant security standards.

We need you to have

  • Experience of leading an IT team
  • Ability to communicate and build relationships with internal / external stakeholders at all levelsSME in at least one of our key skills UNIX, ADC(F5), IBM Cloud, Azure
  • Experience of monitoring tools, frameworks and processes (Dynatrace)
  • A growth mindset with a proactive attitude to learning new technologies and skills
  • Ability to work to challenging timescales and deliver to planned schedules
  • Highly collaborative with excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
It's a bonus if you have but not essential
  • Familiar with SDLC and Agile methodologies
  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Be willing to join our 24/7 on call rota
