About the Role

Be the reason someone feels safe.

At Prometheus we do more than move patients. We protect, support and care for some of the most vulnerable people in society. Our teams work across the UK providing safe, compassionate transfers for individuals in mental health crisis, those in secure care and patients needing specialist hospital support. We operate 24/7 every day of the year working in partnership with the NHS, private healthcare providers, police, prisons and the courts.

Joining us as a Health Care Assistant means stepping into a role where no two days are the same. One shift you could be supporting a patient through a mental health crisis, the next you might be leading a team to ensure a safe transfer between hospitals. You will be part of a tight knit crew that looks out for each other, backed by training, ongoing development and the knowledge that your work truly matters.

If you are calm under pressure, quick to adapt and want a career where you make a difference every single day, Prometheus is where you belong.

As a Health Care Assistant with Prometheus you will work alongside skilled mental health and clinical professionals to deliver outstanding care in challenging and varied situations. You will support the safe transfer of patients in our services including PSS, PCC and Section 136 pathways as well as in hospital bedwatch, mental health units and other specialist environments.

This is hands on, people first work that requires empathy, resilience and professionalism. You will communicate with patients and partner organisations, handle sensitive information and respond quickly when situations change. You will ensure every patient is treated with dignity and respect regardless of circumstance.

Key responsibilities include:

• Providing high quality, compassionate care during patient transfers and in care settings

• Supporting qualified nurses in the safe transfer of patients

• Driving Prometheus ambulances when required

• Responding effectively to crises and emergencies

• Completing clear and accurate documentation in line with procedures

• Safeguarding vulnerable adults and children in accordance with policy

• Maintaining vehicles and equipment to required standards
