The Company:

Our client is a leading manufacturer of cooling systems in the UK used within Laboratories, high end laser cutting machines, and semiconductor manufacturing facilities.

As an employer they have 30 staff members in total across there onsite manufacturing facility including both Engineers and back-office support team. They are owned by a larger group with a revenue of £68 Million.

They are currently undergoing the process of expanding their premises, and acquiring an additional business, as such they are growing the team to allow for additional workload and increased efficiency so are looking for an engineer to join the team and become the "go to" engineer for electrical design, research and development.

The Role:

We are looking for an Electrical Design Engineer to support the team with their Electrical expertise. As the Primary Electrical expert, you will be reporting directly to the Engineering Manager. You will play a critical role in advising on electrical drawings, creating new electrical schematics, and updating outdated designs. You will also be involved in hands-on testing, creating test reports, and ensuring compliance with design standards.

Your Responsibilities will include:

  • Advising on electrical drawings and redesigning product ranges
  • 50% Electrical design, 20% electrical testing and 30% electrical documentation/administration
  • Creating and updating electrical schematics
  • Hands-on testing with test rigs and creating test reports
  • Specifying components
  • Ensuring design compliance

Qualifications and experience:

  • Degree/HND level or equivalent qualification in an Electrical Engineering
  • 3+ years' experience in a similar position
  • Experienced with AutoCAD Electrical or similar package
  • Previous experience with electrical testing
  • Good communicator with a positive 'can-do' attitude
  • Independent and confident in your abilities

Duties will include, but not limited to:- Setting up and/or validating setup for all microprocessor-controlled equipment and maintaining a log system set-points in a format specified by the Senior Facility Manager and system design protocols.- Performing preventative maintenance on the Heating Ventilation and Air Conditioning (HVAC) Control System and related components to maintain system operation and reliability, ensuring uninterrupted power and continuous air supply to critical facilities, equipment and systems.- Working closely with the Electrical and HVAC Controls Technicians to diagnose faults, failures and alarms on general electrical and mechanical systems to ensure all equipment is functioning effectively and properly maintained.- Maintaining all equipment, sensors, actuators, cabling, and other components of the BAS system.- Maintaining normal computer systems such as Windows system maintenance, disk clean-up, back-up, installation of software upgrades, virus/spyware protection and computer cleaning.- Maintaining microprocessors- Logistics support of BAS systems.Qualifications and EvaluationsRequirements:- All selected candidates must be able to obtain and hold a non-sensitive security clearance.- All selected candidates will be subject to a background investigation and may be subject to a pre-employment medical exam.- Selected candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) upon receipt of agency authorisation and/or clearances/certifications, or their candidacy may end.Education Requirements:The completion of a Bachelor of Science degree, or equivalent, in Mechanical/Electrical/General Engineering or Computerised systems, control and sensor technology is required. Applicants must have proof of specialised technical training to match background requirements.Qualifications:Experience: Minimum of five (5) years field experience in the operation and maintenance of a building automation system (BAS), including computer and microprocessor control system installation and programming. The experience may have been gained as a result of performing general maintenance on computer-controlled systems and equipment; however, at least two (2) years must have been spent in direct maintenance of BAS specific components in a similar environment, in addition to three (3) years of experience with large, modern, commercial or government office building operations and maintenance. Experience working with U.S. building, trade, construction, fire, and safety codes and standards is required.Language: Fluent English - speaking/reading/writing, may include the ability to translate (this may be tested).Job Knowledge: The incumbent must have superior knowledge, exceptional technical skills, and a thorough understanding of building automation systems, their components, including sensors and actuators. Must know how to make adjustments to the system and components to keep the building within the designed operating parameters. Must be able to interpret sensor readings and fault and failure codes in order to diagnose and expedite repairs. Individuals must have knowledge of local companies that can provide material or service support for the systems within his/her area of responsibility. Individuals must have detailed technical knowledge of the control systems within his/her area of responsibility and basic knowledge of how the control systems interface with the operating systems. Incumbent knowledge base must be equipment specific, with the makes and models of the installed equipment.
