Friday 21st February

Lancaster grocer, Charles Herman Smith, will guide you on a fictional murder mystery as he tries to clear his name as you time travel back to 1914

Don't want to meet a tour guide in-person at a particular time and place in Chester this half-term (or at any other time for that matter)?

If you have an electronic device (like a phone or an iPad) and optional ear plugs (for privacy), we have something immersive for the whole family.

Download the Voice Map app to your phone for free and search for Chester, where you'll find the 'Chester War Tour.'

Once downloaded for a small fee, you'll get to keep an audio tour unlike any other...and the best part. You can stop it and start whenever you want.

Using GPS, immersive music and sound effects, Lancaster grocer Charles Herman Smith will guide you on a fictional murder mystery as he tries to clear his name as you time travel back to 1914 to investigate the murder of a suffragette.

You will interrogate real locals that serve as witnesses, revealing their stories asyou explore Chester's home front at the start of the first world war

Using local voice actors, these characters are real people from our past and particularly connected with Chester that bring the past to life in new ways.

You will also get tthe chance to view history photos, courtesy of the Cheshire Online Image Bank.

For those wanting something slightly lighter, Live History also offers another Voice Map tour, entitled 'Chester Childrens Tour, Romans to Knights'.

For more details of the tours we do, please consult our website www.livehistory.co.uk, for those wishing to experience the past!
