'The Indecent Proposal of Edith Morrey' - Picturehouse Chester - Sunday 8 June - 4pm

Picturehouse is set to host a talk on a notorious 19th century murder trial.
A description for this event reads: "A historical talk about the murder of George Morrey in Hankelow 1812 and the sensational trial that took place at Chester Castle.
"The Indecent Proposal of Edith Morrey takes us back to the gruesome events of 1812 and Faithful Thomas's Inquiry at the White Lion Pub in Hankelow, which led to the eventual trial at Chester Castle.
"The trial caused a media frenzy that quickly captured the public's imagination, as John Lomas and Edith Morrey faced not only Robert Dallas's court but also the court of public opinion."

Sunday roast offer - The Deva Tap - Sunday 8 June

The Deva Tap, a dog-friendly pub, is offering a roast and drink for two for £35 offer this Sunday - with a range of meat options and a vegan nut roast.
A description for the offer reads: "When you book with us every Sunday, get any two roasts and two selected drinks for only £35. Trio supplement is £2.50.
"Drinks choice includes any cask or medium glass of wine.
"All our roasts are served with roasties, carrot and swede mash, roast parsnips. seasonal greens, yorkie, chive and onion stuffing and unlimited gravy."
Midsummer Gothic Guided Tour - Chester - Saturday 7 June - 5:30pm

Dark Chester Tour will host an evening walking tour this Saturday through Chester's dark-tourism heritage, with a Gothic-literature twist.
A description for this event reads: "Expect social history, folklore and plenty of dark humour with a sprinkling of readings from the Gothic literary canon.
"We will walk around a series of locations in the city centre, stopping to tell tales from the darker side of Chester's 2000-year history.
"This event is a special tour for the Chester Heritage Festival, taking a different route to my regular Dark Chester tour.
"Dark Chester was awarded the New Tourism Business of the Year at the Marketing Cheshire Tourism Awards 2024."

Chester Green Weekend - Chester - 7 and 8 June

A free festival is taking place in Chester city centre this weekend, inspired by eco-conscious living.
A description for this event reads: "Chester Green Weekend celebrates sustainability with a series of unique local events, workshops and activities across the city.
"Taking place on 7 and 8 June, there will be interactive workshops on sustainable living, talks from local experts, community-led activities promoting eco-friendly practices, family friendly activities and local food.
"Guests will also find entertainment and stalls across Town Hall Square, Exchange Square and The Deans Field at Chester Cathedral.
"Stalls will be open on Town Hall and Exchange Square from 10.00am to 4.30pm each day, with stalls on Dean's Field open from 11.00am to 5.00pm each day."

Comic Con Mania - Chester Racecourse - Sunday 8 June

Comic Con Mania is coming to Chester Racecourse this Sunday.
A description for this event reads: "Our shows are known for bringing the best events, targeting a wide range of fanbases.
"These shows will offer the same fan-friendly, geektastic fun as seen at our bigger shows.
"Each event will feature a cosplay competition and masquerade, retro and current gaming, a selection of our favourite traders and plenty of awesome set builds and prop builds from a range of TV shows and films that you all know and love."
