Independent design and gift company, Utility, launches its latest store in Chester today (2 May).

The store will open its doors for the first time in the city, showcasing a curated selection of unique gifts, greetings cards, homeware and fashion accessories.

To celebrate the launch, the team will be handing out goodie bags to the first 50 customers.

Located at 50 Eastgate Row, the latest addition marks the company's 25th year of business - having operated in the North West since 1999.

A spokesperson for Utility said: "We are thrilled to open our first store in Chester, especially given its proximity to our base near Liverpool.

"Chester has long been on our radar and it's a city where we already have a strong customer base.

"We have secured an excellent location and are excited to welcome customers to this new store."

The Eastgate Street unit, formerly owned by shoe brand, Office, has been empty since 2020.

Founded by Richard Skelton, Dick Mawdsley and Kate Cowie, Utility is an independent design and gift company based in Liverpool.

The independent brand specialises in 'fun and quirky gifts' or humorous greeting cards, alongside designer furniture, lighting and homeware.

It has stores located in Liverpool One, Bold Street, Manchester Oxford Road, Altrincham, Manchester Cross Street and now Chester.
