The University of Chester has been named the top university in the North West in this year's Whatuni Student Choice Awards (WUSCAs).

Now in its 13th year, the awards are the only UK higher education honours entirely voted for and judged by students.

Drawing on more than 42,000 verified student reviews from over 85 university campuses nationwide, the awards offer independent insight into the real student experience.

The winners were announced at the WUSCAs ceremony on May 21, 2026. For the third consecutive year, the University of Chester was ranked first in the North West overall.

The university also achieved second place in the UK for Halls and Student Accommodation, first in the North West and third in the UK for Student Support, first in the North West and third nationally for Postgraduate Study, first in the North West for Lecturers and Teaching Quality and second in the North West for International Study.

The awards highlight strong student satisfaction across areas including teaching quality, support services, accommodation and postgraduate study.
