High school students in years 11, 12 and 13 are being invited to explore a range of subjects at an informative experience day at the University of Chester.

Archaeology, history, geography, theology and religious studies are among those on offer for students wanting to explore higher education.

Chester University is hosting the 'Humanities, Cultures and Environment Experience Day' on Wednesday 19 March at its Exton Park campus, just off Parkgate Road, Chester.

Sessions being offered in geography and environment include, 'Coastal Management in a Changing World: Can We Defend the Coast?' by Andrew Miles, and 'Creating Greener Cities for Smoother Rides: The Future of Urban Transport', by Dami Akosile.

Sessions in history and archaeology include, 'Stories from Bones! An Introduction to the Analysis of Human Remains' by Amy Gray Jones, and 'Britpop Breakout' by Rebecca Andrew and Sam Chadwick.

Students can also attend theology and religious studies sessions on 'Christian Views of the Afterlife' by Paul Middleton and 'British Muslims' by Richard Gauvain.

Rachel Howle, Outreach Co-ordinator at the University of Chester, said: "An experience day is an excellent opportunity to deepen subject knowledge and get some hands-on experience of what it's like to study at university.

"We'll have a range of engaging, interactive sessions with experts from across our subject teams, as well as tours of the campus."

The event runs from 10am-2pm. Students are advised to bring packed lunches or purchase refreshments (please note, Exton Park is a cashless campus).
