Cheshire Police has arrested two men following a series of burglaries in Crewe, Chester and North Wales.

In the early hours of Tuesday 3 February, officers in North Wales received reports of two burglaries in the Rhyl and St Asaph areas, with callers reporting vehicles had been stolen from outside their homes.

Then, at around 6am on 3 February, Cheshire Police were made aware of a burglary at an address in Chester, whereby an Audi Q3 was stolen.

An investigation was launched, and enquiries were underway, when at 6.55am the same day, Cheshire officers were called to reports of a fourth burglary at an address in Crewe where a Volvo XC90 and Audi A3 were stolen.

Following further enquiries, officers from the roads and crime unit at Cheshire Police located the vehicles involved in the Sandbach area.

Following a pursuit, the Audi Q3 was later stopped on the southbound slip road of the M6 at junction 15, where the driver, a 20-year-old-man, was arrested.

The Volvo continued along the M6 and was later stopped by officers on the A38 in Birmingham city centre, where the driver, a 20-year-old man, was also arrested.

Both men are from the North Wales area, the pair are currently being held in police custody on suspicion of burglary, dangerous driving and failing to stop for officers.

Detective Constable Jack Ryder, of Chester Proactive Policing Unit, said: "Burglary is a deeply personal crime that can leave victims feeling unsafe and insecure in their own homes.

"In these cases, our officers were swiftly deployed to the scene and quickly traced the vehicles involved, resulting in the prompt arrest of two suspects.

"I hope these arrests will reassure residents and businesses of our commitment to tackling this type of crime, and I'd like to thank all the officers involved for their quick response."
