Street food weekend to launch Grosvenor Park summer season
By Dherran Titherington 19th Jun 2026
A street food weekend will launch this year's Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre season.
The two-day event takes place on 27–28 June, and will bring together a wide range of food and drink vendors alongside live music, family activities and entertainment.
It also marks the start of the wider Storyhouse in the Park programme, which runs through to September.
Entry is free, and visitors can expect a variety of local traders set up across the open-air festival site, including The Sandbar Seafood Shack, serving fresh seafood sourced from local suppliers.
Chester Market favourites Nice Bites, Sandwich'd and Guroma will also be on site, offering everything from American-style burgers and hotdogs to sandwiches, salads and Bangladeshi street food.
Northgate Street's Maray will serve Mediterranean and Middle Eastern-inspired small plates, while city walls café Fika will offer plant-based treats.
Chows Eating House returns with its Chows Street Food concept, combining Chinese dishes with fish and chips from its Parkgate Fish & Chips sister business.
Local independent pub The Jolly Gardeners and Chester craft drinks specialist That Beer Place will also feature, alongside The Kitchen at Storyhouse, which will serve summer dishes in the park.
A pop-up wine bar and the festival's teepee bar will also be open, serving frozen margaritas, craft ales and local beers.
The weekend marks the start of the Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre season, which opens on Friday, 3 July with Outlaw: A Robin Hood Story by Kieran Lynn.
A modern retelling of the Robin Hood legend, the production is an Ocean's Eleven-style heist and runs until Sunday, 23 August.
It is followed by Let the Sun Shine!, a coming-of-age drama set in 1969 during a period of cultural change, running from 10 July to 23 August.
This year's family show is Peter Pan, an interactive outdoor production running from 28 July to 13 August, inviting audiences to join the action as they journey through Neverland.
The season concludes with a further co-production involving Shakespeare North Playhouse and Keswick's Theatre by the Lake.
