Belong Chester celebrates VE Day with live music and indoor 'street party'

A Chester-based dementia care village recently marked the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
Residents, tenants, families and colleagues at Belong's City Road care village came together for an indoor 'street party' - with live entertainment from Rebecca Done, who brought the 1940s spirit in the form of wartime classics.

The village was also joined by representatives from Grosvenor Museum and Stretton Watermill, with a collection of artefacts from the wartime era - including fashion, product packaging and newspapers for customers to explore.
Charlotte Parton, experience coordinator at Belong Chester, said: "We spent the day enjoying each other's company before the fabulous entertainment.

"The second world war was such a significant period in our customers' lives and we are pleased to honour this incredible generation who fought for our country and sacrificed so much for us."
