World Town Crier Tournament - Saturday 26 September - Exchange Square

This year's World Town Crier Tournament concludes this weekend.

Entrants have travelled from the UK, Europe, Australia, Canada and the United States for the week-long event.

The competition concludes on Saturday 26 September at Exchange Square, where combined scores will determine the overall champion alongside a Best Ambassador award.

Kicking off at 11am, a non-celebrity panel of published authors, school directors and businesspeople will score on vocal proficiency, confidence, bearing, content and audience engagement, with results kept under wraps until the final.

Mersey Belles and Beaus - Vicars Cross Community Centre - Saturday 26 September

Vicars Cross Community Centre will host an evening of nostalgia this Saturday evening.

The Mersey Belles and Beaus, a vintage ukulele music collective, will play a range of timeless classics and fresh twists on modern favourite for a joyful, feel-good show.

Doors will open at 7pm for a 7.30pm start, and refreshments will be available to purchase from a fully licenced bar.

Car boot sale - Bookers Chester - Sunday 27 September

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd's final car boot sale of the year will take place this Sunday.

Running from 7.30am until 12pm at Bookers Chester car park, Dunkirk Estate, the event will offer visitors the chance to browse a range of stalls and bargains.

Entry for buyers is priced at £1, with refreshments and toilets available at the venue.

Sellers must book in advance, with spaces costing £10 for a car and £15 for a van. Sellers can arrive from 7am to set up.

The Lord Mayor's Charity Quiz - New Chester Market - Sunday 27 September

The Lord Mayor's Charity Quiz returns to New Chester Market this Sunday 27 September.

Hosted by local blogger Richard Trotter, the quiz is in aid of The Lord Mayor of Chester Margaret Parker's chosen charities, Kids Bank, Tomorrow's Women and Paw Angels.

Kicking off at 5pm, the event will feature a raffle with over 20 prizes and a musical performance from local duo Ray and Em.

Tickets are priced at £3 per person, with no pre-booking required.

Oktoberfest - The Deva Tap

Oktoberfest returns to The Deva Tap this weekend, with the pub will once again featuring a special Bavarian menu alongside a selection of Bavarian beers.

Four traditional Bavarian beers will be available, with pints and steins on offer, alongside Kölsch-style cask ales from Titanic Brewery.

The special Bavarian menu includes traditional bratwurst sausage, pork schnitzel, currywurst and a frikadellen burger, among other dishes.

A range of offers on schnapps and Jägerbombs will also be available throughout the celebrations.

Oktoberfest will take place at The Deva Tap every Thursday to Saturday until 4 October.
