Open Mic Night - The Deva Tap - Thursday 5 March

Open mic night returns to The Deva Tap this Thursday 5 March.
Starting at 7pm at the Brook Street pub, the event promises an evening of great live music and excellent beers.
An event description reads: "For those simply looking to enjoy an evening of live music, food will be served until 8.30pm, with a wide range of specialist beers from independent breweries also on offer.
"The Deva Tap prides itself on offering a variety of gluten-free and vegan options, and is also a dog-friendly venue. With a free drink provided for every performer, budding musicians are encouraged to take part."

Author event - books on the walls - Saturday 7 March

Andy Porter, Books on the Walls' poet-in-residence, will be discussing his debut poetry collection this Saturday afternoon.
His first collection, 'Neighbour's Got a New Hot Tub', was published in July 2025 by independent Irish publisher Luain Press. The following month, Andy was invited to appear with Rising Tide Events at Electric Picnic, Ireland's biggest music festival.
After more than 30 years working as an advertising scriptwriter, copywriter and director, Andy now turns his sharp ear and wit to poetry. His work is lively and entertaining, packed with humour, crafted rhyme and a high-spirited take on everyday life.
This free, drop-in event will take place from 2–2.30pm at the City Walls bookshop.

Christleton Village Market - Sunday 8 March

Christleton Village Market returns this Sunday 8 March, bringing a relaxed and welcoming start to the weekend.
A description for the event reads: "Visitors can look forward to delicious bites to eat, locally roasted coffee, and a carefully curated selection of stalls showcasing the very best in local produce and handmade goods.
"From freshly baked treats and artisan foods to unique crafts and thoughtful gifts, the market is a celebration of the creativity and talent within the community.

Luke Jerram's Museum of the Moon - Chester Cathedral

Museum of the Moon, Chester Cathedral's latest installation, is now open to the public.
Artist Luke Jerram's moon sculpture is complete with a surround sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning composer Dan Jones.
Measuring six metres in diameter, the moon features 120dpi detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. At an approximate scale of 1:500,000, each centimetre of the internally lit spherical sculpture represents 5km of the moon's surface.
You can visit 'Museum of the Moon' at Chester Cathedral until Sunday 15 March 2026.

Chester Amphitheatre: An 8000 year story - Grosvenor Museum

The Grosvenor Museum has now unveiled its latest exhibition, detailing the story of one of Chester's most significant archaeological sites.
A description reads: "Find out what was there before the Romans built the largest amphitheatre in Britain, what new information was revealed about the amphitheatre and what happened in the centuries after the Romans left.
"This exhibition displays discoveries made by the major research excavations at Chester Amphitheatre in 2004 – 2006, a partnership between English Heritage and the then Chester City Council."
