Loud N Local 2026 Festival - Alexander's Live - Sunday 30 August

Chester's Loud N Local Festival returns for its 10th year this Bank Holiday Sunday, bringing a full day and night of live music to Alexander's Live.

Featuring 20 bands, artists and DJs across three stages, the festival will showcase local talent alongside emerging acts from across the UK, including performers from Manchester and London.

The festival runs from midday until 2am and will also feature indoor and outdoor bars, outdoor food and a family-friendly atmosphere.

Loud N Local 2026 takes place on Sunday 30 August. Tickets are £12 in advance, £20 on the door, with under-12s attending for free.

Car boot sale - Bookers Chester - Sunday 30 August

The Hospice of the Good Shepherd's monthly car boot sale returns this Sunday.

Taking place from 7.30am until 12pm at the Dunkirk Estate, the event will offer visitors the chance to browse a range of stalls and find bargains, with refreshments and toilets also available.

Sellers must book in advance, with spaces costing £10 for a car and £15 for a van. Sellers can arrive from 7am to set up.

Cheshire's prehistoric past exhibition - Grosvenor Museum

Cheshire's ancient past is being brought to life in a new exhibition at Chester's Grosvenor Museum.

Running until Sunday 20 September, the exhibition explores the region's geological history, from prehistoric jungles and deep oceans to the landscapes we know today.

Visitors can discover fossils from the museum's collection, including Carboniferous plant remains from Wrexham, marine microfossils from Saltney and reptile footprints found on the Wirral.

Entry is free, with donations welcome.

Nell Gwynn - Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre - Until Sunday 6 September

Nell Gwynn is now showing at Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre, staged in partnership with Shakespeare North Playhouse and Theatre by the Lake.

Set in London in 1660, the production follows Nell Gwynn from her beginnings as an orange-seller to her rise to fame at the court of Charles II.

Written by Jessica Swale and directed by Bryony Shanahan, the production combines music, comedy and drama to tell the story of one of Britain's first actresses.

The production runs until Sunday 6 September. The festival site also features a tepee bar and an expanded food and drink offering, including craft beers and frozen cocktails.

Bank Holiday Ossett Brewery Tap Takeover - The Deva Tap

The Deva Tap is hosting an Ossett Brewery Tap Takeover this Bank Holiday weekend.

Running from 12 noon on Friday until 6pm on Bank Holiday Monday, the event will feature five cask ales and five kegs from Ossett Brewery.

There will also be a beer raffle throughout the weekend, with prizes including a beer hamper, a Titanic Brewery Bar in a Box and Ossett Brewery polo shirts.

Live football will be shown from Wednesday through to Monday, while food will be available throughout the weekend at selected times.

Food is served Thursday from 4pm to 8.30pm, Friday and Saturday from 12pm to 8.30pm, and Sunday from 12pm to 4.30pm.
