Gladiators of Britain exhibition - Grosvenor Museum - ENDS Sunday 25 January

This weekend is the last chance to see the Grosvenor Museum's free exhibition all about the brutal history of gladiators.
A description for the event reads: "Step into the arena where gladiators once fought and died to thunderous crowds.
"This major touring exhibition brings together rare Roman artefacts that reveal the brutal spectacle of gladiatorial combat in ancient Britain – including extraordinary finds from Chester's own amphitheatre, the largest in the country.
"From the enslaved fighters who became unlikely celebrities to the vendors selling food to eager crowds, Gladiators of Britain reveals the human stories behind the helmets."

Author event (Steve Dilworth) - Books on the walls - Saturday 24 January

This Saturday afternoon, Books on the Walls will host author Steve Dilworth to discuss his latest book 'Mourning Walk', a book that carries memories from personal grief.
A description for the event reads: "Steve is the author of Mourning Walk, a book that carries memories from personal grief, professional experience and unanswered questions about life that have arisen for him in his, almost, three score years and ten.
"Those gathering for this short meeting at books on the walls are asked to ponder their personal take on an acronym for GRIEF."
The event runs starts 2pm.
Live folk music - Garden Social - Saturday 24 January

Catherine Street's Garden Social will host a trio of folk artists this Saturday evening to perform original music.
A description for the event reads: "Join Chester's own Adam Kirkup alongside two touring Canadian singer-songwriters, Mallory Chipman & Maddisun, for a triple bill of live original folk music."
The event starts at 7.30pm, with tickets available online for the performance.
Big Fat Quiz On The Roof - Rooftop Social Club - Sunday 18 January

Rooftop Social Club hosts a weekly quiz every Sunday evening, with a cash prize up for grabs.
A description for the event reads: "The Big Fat Quiz on the Roof is BACK from 7pm – and so is your chance to bag up to £250 cash!
"Think you've got the brains? Round up your team, bring your best trivia skills and we'll see you on the Roof.
"Enjoy great prizes, great food and great drinks. As well as a cash first prize, there's bar tabs, pizza, Prosecco and more up for grabs."

Available via pre-booked tables only, you can get any two dishes (burgers or classics) and a bottle of wine for £39.95 at The Deva Tap as part of its winter wonder deal.The deal runs until 6pm from Wednesday to Friday. There is a £4 supplement per person for 10oz sirloin.
