Free yoga - Soul Space Chester - Friday 19 December

Soul Space Chester offers a free class each week (Nub News)

Local yoga studio, Soul Space Chester, offers a free class each week.

A description for the event reads: "Join us each week for Soul Karma, our free community class — a gift of yoga open to everyone, no matter your experience.

"This class is offered freely, with love and gratitude by new teachers who want to practice teaching. If you're in a position to do so, we welcome donations — either a small monetary contribution or an item for the local food bank.

"Together, we can spread positive energy beyond the mat. Spaces are limited, so please book your place in advance. A gift to the community. Open to all. No cost, just come as you are."

A description for the event reads: "Meet Time Travel Tom on the Filthy Chester Tour as you explore the dark and dirty side of a historic city, from the filth of the street to the filth behind closed doors.

"Featuring contextual bad language and stories of an uncomfortably taboo nature not suitable for those of a sensitive disposition, discover the story of those working the oldest profession in the world.

"From love chairs to piracy, this is a sixty-minute, adults-only tour...and for good reason! Strictly 18 years and over only!"

Chester Bach Singers' festive concert - St Werburgh's Church - Saturday 20 December

A celebrity guest conductor will join Chester Bach Singers' for their upcoming festive concert this Saturday.

The choir will be joined by Conductor Joseph Judge, who worked as choral music director on the Alan Bennett penned film 'The Choral' - starring Ralph Fiennes as choirmaster Dr Guthrie.

'Make We Joy' will take place at St Werburgh's Church on Saturday 20 December. The concert will feature much-loved carols and festive favourites by composers including Felix Mendelssohn, Sir William Walton, John Rutter and many more.

Ticket admission also includes seasonal refreshments afterwards.

Christmas concert - Alexander's Live - Sunday 21 December

Chester-based choir, A Handbag of Harmonies, will perform a Christmas concert this Sunday evening.

A description for the event reads: "A Handbag of Harmonies' are a vivacious women's choir who create a party wherever they go!

"With pink feather boas and glitzy handbags, they sing in four-part harmony and combine fun choreography. They are led by their charismatic Musical Director; Matt Baker.

"We guarantee this evening will fill your hearts with Christmas spirit and musical cheer!"

A description for the event reads: "Make memories and create a family tradition by visiting Chester Cathedral's annual Christmas Tree Festival.

"A delightful family-friendly day out. Enjoy over 80 trees decorated in the theme of Christmas Around the World. Free entry for children 5 and under.

"Pre-book your Christmas entry to ensure speedy entry. Last entry 5.30pm. No booking or entry fee for Sundays.

"Between Christmas Eve and New Year's Day the Cathedral closes at 4pm with last entry for the Christmas Tree Festival at 3.30pm. Please check our upcoming closures on the website for other Nave and café closures during the Christmas Tree Festival."

Gladiators of Britain exhibition - Grosvenor Museum

The Grosvenor Museum is currently hosting a free exhibition from the British Museum (Nub News)

There isn't long left to visit the the Grosvenor Museum's free exhibition from the British Museum all about the brutal history of gladiators.

A description for the event reads: "Step into the arena where gladiators once fought and died to thunderous crowds.

"This major touring exhibition brings together rare Roman artefacts that reveal the brutal spectacle of gladiatorial combat in ancient Britain – including extraordinary finds from Chester's own amphitheatre, the largest in the country.

"From the enslaved fighters who became unlikely celebrities to the vendors selling food to eager crowds, Gladiators of Britain reveals the human stories behind the helmets."

Available via pre-booked tables only, you can get any two dishes (burgers or classics) and a bottle of wine for £39.95 at The Deva Tap as part of its winter wonder deal.

The deal runs until 6pm from Wednesday to Friday. There is a £4 supplement per person for 10oz sirloin.

The pub also offers 10% off from Wednesday to Friday until 6pm, and is also applicable to the pizza offer.

On Sunday from 12-2 pm, you can get two roasts (excluding trio) for £22 if pre booked. Or, you can get any two roasts including a trio and a cauliflower side for £29.95.
