Chester Duck Race 2026 - The Groves - Saturday 25 April

Chester's annual Duck Race returns to the Groves this Saturday. Family-friendly activities including face painting, hook-a-duck and colouring will run from 12pm, before the ducks take to the water at 3pm.

Organised by The Countess Charity, the event will see around 100 businesses race decorated ducks to raise funds for the hospital's Extra Mile Appeal.

Competition on the River Dee is expected to be fierce, with prizes awarded for the fastest duck, best-dressed duck, best celebrity lookalike, and the public's favourite as voted on Facebook.

A spokesperson said: "Join us by supporting a great local cause while bringing the community together for a fun-filled afternoon!"

Fusion Art Fair - Chester Racecourse - 24 - 26 April

The Fusion Art Fair will take place this weekend at Chester Racecourse.

Running from Friday 24 April to Sunday 26 April, the event will feature more than 60 artists and over 2,000 original artworks, alongside live demonstrations and interactive workshops.

Visitors can explore a wide range of art including paintings, sculpture, jewellery, photography, ceramics and mixed media, with prices ranging from £50 to £5,000.

Free parking and a licensed café serving drinks, lunch and light snacks will be available on site.

Chester's alternative club night 'Enigma' returns to The Lock Keeper this Saturday evening.

Running from 8pm until late, the night will feature DJs spinning a mix of metal, nu-metal, emo, rock, grunge, alt and pop-punk.

Guests can expect a high-energy atmosphere with a soundtrack spanning classic anthems and modern favourites from across the alternative scene.

Drink deals will be available throughout the evening, with a smoking terrace also on site. Entry is £5 in advance or £6 on the door.

Midcentury Markets is coming to Chester this Sunday at The Carriage Shed.

Running from 11am until 4pm, the market will feature specialist traders from across the UK showcasing a curated selection of mid-century furniture, home décor and vintage pieces from the 1940s to the 1970s.

Visitors can browse items from well-known brands including Hornsea, G-Plan, Ercol, Knoll and Eames, alongside enjoying nostalgic music and refreshments.

Early bird entry is available from 11am for £5, with standard entry from 12pm priced at £3 (under 12s go free).

A description for the event reads: "Join us for a day of nostalgia, discovery and timeless style at Midcentury Markets."

Every Sunday, The Deva Tap serves up a 'roast and drink for two' offer, where diners can enjoy any two roasts and two selected drinks for just £35.

The drinks selection includes any cask ale or a medium glass of wine.

Guests can choose from a range of roast options, including beef, chicken, gammon, a trio of meats, or a nut roast. Each dish is served with roast potatoes, carrot and swede mash, roast parsnips, seasonal greens, a Yorkshire pudding, chive and onion stuffing, and unlimited gravy.
