The Filthy Chester Tour - Friday 6 February - Meeting outside Chester Visitor Information Centre

Live History's 'Filthy Chester Tour' returns this Friday, meeting outside Chester Visitor Information Centre.

A description for the event reads: "Hear about historical court cases that would make people blush, consider how certain lost buildings played host to disasters - or learn Shakespearean slang that will get you laid.

"This is a tour for those with a dark sense of humour, who relish uncomfortably taboo tales of a more 'adult nature' - grotesque, sexy and obscene language, complete with images of lost local buildings and a bag of naughty replicas.

"Not suitable for those with a sensitive disposition due to taboo stories and contextual swearing. Strictly 18 years and over."

Makers Market - Saturday 7 February - Exchange Square & Town Hall Square

The Makers Market returns to Chester this Saturday, with over 80 stalls packed with artisan treats, handmade crafts, independent makers and local produce.

An event description reads: "We're back in the city centre and ready to kick off 2026 in style with a brilliant day of independent makers, artisan food, live music and top-tier community vibes.

"If you love shopping local, supporting small businesses, and discovering unique handmade finds, this one's for you. Expect beautiful artisan stalls, delicious food & drink, and live music to keep the squares buzzing all day.

King Charles' Tower opening - city walls - Sunday 8 February

The King Charles Tower will be open this weekend, with costumed reenactors telling tales from the English Civil War.

A description for the event reads: "Volunteers from Heritage Chester will be opening King Charles' Tower on the city walls this Sunday 8 February, from 11am - 3pm.

"There will also be some volunteer costumed reenactors sharing the stories of Chester during the English Civil War.

"Totally free!"

Big Fat Quiz On The Roof - Rooftop Social Club - Sunday 1 February

Rooftop Social Club hosts a weekly quiz every Sunday evening, with a cash prize up for grabs.

A description for the event reads: "The Big Fat Quiz on the Roof is BACK from 7pm – and so is your chance to bag up to £250 cash!
