This Friday, Chester Ghost Tour invites you to an evening of fun and phantoms, meeting outside Chester Town Hall.

A description for the event reads: "Our ghost tour guides will take you on a night-time journey around the eerie haunts of Chester's mysterious and murky past, where you will hear spine-chilling tales of ghosts, ghouls and things that go bump in the night. 

"Join your Chester Ghost Tour guide at 7.30pm outside the Town Hall Visitor Information Centre on Northgate Street (location map) to begin your eerie journey through Chester's haunted history.

"Our Ghost Tours are approximately 90 minutes long. Please book in advance where possible as our tours can be extremely popular and fill up."

"Kick off the festive season watching the magical moment the Christmas Tree sprinkles to life. Join us to celebrate the past 25+ years of Hoole Christmas Lights with this new-style community event.

"Bring your family, friends and festive spirit! Celebrate and raise money for the Hoole Christmas Lights to continue for another year!

"The event kicks off at 4pm, lights on at 6pm followed by a rock and roll party! This is a ticketed event only - please buy in advance to secure your ticket!"

The Grosvenor Museum is currently hosting a free exhibition from the British Museum all about the brutal history of gladiators.

A description for the event reads: "Step into the arena where gladiators once fought and died to thunderous crowds.

"This major touring exhibition brings together rare Roman artefacts that reveal the brutal spectacle of gladiatorial combat in ancient Britain – including extraordinary finds from Chester's own amphitheatre, the largest in the country.

"From the enslaved fighters who became unlikely celebrities to the vendors selling food to eager crowds, Gladiators of Britain reveals the human stories behind the helmets."

The deal runs until 6pm from Wednesday to Friday. There is a £4 supplement per person for 10oz sirloin.
