Home to an exclusive range of craft beers, homemade food and screening of live sports, The Deva Tap on Brook Street is known for its warm and inviting atmosphere.

Earlier this year, Dave Hill took over ownership of The Deva Tap - relaunching the pub alongside head chef Carl Simon, who he has worked alongside for a number of years.

Whilst many pubs struggle for survival, the owner attributes the venue's exclusive offering to its continued success.

Noted for stocking specialist beers from independent breweries, The Deva Tap has worked closely with CAMRA in the past - a campaign which champions real ales.

Dave told Nub News: "I think we survive because we only do beers that you can't get anywhere else in the city.

"We also have a niche by offering traditional home-cooked food and exclusivity for certain specified sports channels. We do all the live sports all the way through the week, but now we've got the Autumn Internationals so we'll be showing the football and the rugby.

"We're lucky here, we can split all the TV screens off and show two or three different matches at the same time."

The Chester pub also puts on various events throughout the week, including a poker night every Wednesday, open mic nights every other Thursday and live sport screenings every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

For those looking for a great midweek dining deal, the pub recently launched its winter wonder offer, where you can get any two dishes and a bottle of wine for £39.95. This deal applies to pre-booked tables only.

These dishes include triple cheese beef lasagne, slow-cooked beef in a rich beer broth, all day winter brunch, Deva Tap burgers and more - all homemade, cooked fresh on site.

Highlighting the quality of the food on offer, Dave added: "Everything is made from scratch here. Our Sunday roasts, our lasagnas, everything is traditional, home-cooked, proper food.

"We've got things that you're not going to get anywhere else in Chester, and that definitely is a big plus for us."

You can book Sunday lunch at The Deva Tap here.

Gluten-free and vegan diets are also catered for, with a separate menu featuring gluten-free beer pairings for each dish, alongside a range of vegan options for food and beer.

Every Sunday, if guests pre-book they can get two roasts and a side for £29.95. Also available on a Sunday is two roasts for £22 from 12-2pm, if pre-booked.

Heading into the festive season, the pub has started accepting bookings for Christmas parties and corporate events. The space is available for hire for parties and various events throughout the year.

Dave said: "We basically just work with people asking what they want and then we cater for that.

"We offer personalised buffets but we also have sample menus we can send out to people. I think the key point of it is just the freedom to personalise your event."

Reflecting on The Deva Tap as a community hub, Dave pointed to the events its holds each week, alongside providing a space for local groups and clubs to meet and socialise.

He added: "It's a venue where people can come in, meet others and feel comfortable."
