'Sick to Death' on Bridge Street has now reopened, following a break in last week and a subsequent arrest.

Police were called to the museum in the early hours of Thursday morning (6 March), with the museum closed following the incident.

'Sick to Death' has announced how it has been able to secure the premises and reopen to the public, along with plans to repair the heritage windows.

Praising the community response, the attraction said: "Huge thanks to Adam from Pace Joinery for helping to secure our museum after the unfortunate damage during last night's break in.

"We've already started the process needed in order to get the beautiful windows of St Michael's church repaired by heritage specialists.

"We're very thankful to the hard work done by Cheshire police today and are pleased to say that the suspect has been identified and arrested.

"The support of our community, locally and online, has been nothing short of fantastic all day. It really means a lot to us.

"We're a small company, but our staff worked hard today and we're happy to say that we will be open again tomorrow, as usual.

"You'll just have to mind the boarded up window for now (who knows, maybe we'll lean into the look)."

A spokesperson for Cheshire Police said: "At 4.06am on Thursday 6 March police were called to reports of someone breaking into Chester Heritage Centre on Bridge Street.

"Officers attended and arrested a 21-year-old local man on suspicion of burglary other than a dwelling."

The museum reported the incident over social media last week, with an image of the damage.

It said: "To say we're all upset is a bit of an understatement.

"Thankfully, the only bodily injury was to Colin, our prop cadaver, and we can only hope that he gave them a bit of scare.

"The police and forensics are on scene now and we have CCTV, so this won't be the last of it.

"In the meantime, we'll be working to assess the damage and then put things back to right as soon as we can.

"We're really sorry that a group of inconsiderate ne'er do wells mean we everyone else misses out."
