A person was rescued by fire crews last night (15 June) after falling into the canal.

At 9:18pm, firefighters were called to reports of a casualty that had fallen into the canal near Hoole Lane, Chester.

Two fire engines and an aerial ladder platform were sent to the scene.

Upon arrival, the person had managed to get themselves out of the canal and on to the bank, but needed help getting back to a safer area.

Using a ladder, firefighters moved the casualty to a more accessible spot and carried out the rescue.

Shortly after, they were checked over by firefighters - with no injuries reported.
