Police in Chester are urging people to stay vigilant following reports of 'suspicious activity' in the city centre.

Officers say they are aware of a number of incidents where a man has approached people asking for money, claiming he will transfer it back via an app. But the money is never repaid.

Cheshire Police believes all the incidents reported to officers involve the same individual.

Inspector James Wilson said:"We would like to reassure residents that we are aware of reports which we believe relate to the same individual asking for money and not repaying it.

"We know people may have transferred this man money or given him cash out of good intentions, so we are asking anyone who believes this has happened to them to get in touch with us.

"We would also urge people not to hand over money in suspicious circumstances."
