By Dherran Titherington 3rd Mar 2026
Classically trained violinist Philip Chidell will lead two special Mother's Day concerts at Chester Town Hall, featuring an orchestra of no fewer than 20 musicians.
Philip Chidell, best known for entertaining residents and tourists in Chester city centre, is set to stage the concerts at Chester Town Hall on Sunday 15 March.
By popular request, there will be a matinée performance at 2.30pm as well as a performance at 7.30pm. Audiences can expect a mix of popular classical favourites, film themes, music from the West End, Broadway and more.
Philip said: "Chester Town Hall is a wonderful space to perform in, and Mother's Day felt like the perfect moment to share music that's expressive, romantic and full of warmth.
"It's very much a celebration for everyone; so yes, fathers are also allowed."
Alongside Philip will be his 20-strong orchestra of talented young musicians from across the North-West, as they perform a special programme celebrating motherhood, alongside timeless classics.
A graduate of the prestigious Chetham's School of Music in Manchester, Philip set up his orchestra 18 months ago, fulfilling a long-held dream.
Together, they have now staged seven concerts in Chester, attracting large, enthusiastic audiences each time.
Full details of Philip's Mother's Day concerts at Chester Town Hall can be found here, where tickets can be booked online.
Tickets can also be purchased in person at the Visitor Information Centre adjacent to Chester Town Hall.
