A former vintage shop could be replaced by a new bar and restaurant on Bridge Street Row East.
Plans for a new eatery called 'The Drawing Room' have been outlined in a licensing application submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council.
Previously home to Harley's Vintage Boutique, the independent store closed early this year.
Specialising in vintage clothing for men and women, owner Kim Perreault pointed to increasingly low footfall and Chester becoming a 'destination for dining and drinking rather than shopping' as reasons for the closure.
The application for 'The Drawing Room' reveals plans for a 'modern seated environment', which will remain in keeping with 'the age and overall vibe of the historic building'.
The two-storey building located at 19 Bridge Street Row East will include a main area with seating for approximately 36 people. With an outdoor seating area also proposed, opening hours would be from 11am until midnight from Monday to Sunday.
The licensing application states: "The premises are designed to operate in a manner that promotes the licensing objectives, maintaining a safe, secure, and well-managed environment for customers, staff, and the local community."
Access for customers would be via the main entrance on Bridge Street Row East, with additional access for staff and deliveries located at the rear.
You can find the application here. Consultation ends on 7 January 2026.
