By Dherran Titherington 6th Feb 2026
A new independent and woman-owned cafe is set to open on the city walls.
Located on 5 City Walls, the owner of Crumb and Comfort is remaining tight-lipped on a specific opening date as they work on renovations for the new eatery.
The team has described the independent coffee shop as seeking to "enrich the local community", whilst creating a welcoming space where people can gather and connect.

For the founder of Crumb and Comfort, opening a cafe in Chester has always been a dream.
She said: "As a women-owned business, my mission is to create a welcoming space where people can gather, connect, and enjoy quality food and beverages.
"Chester is a vibrant town with a rich culture, making it the perfect location for my cafe. The journey to launching my business has been filled with countless ups and downs, from securing funding to choosing the right location and designing the interior.
"Every step brings its own challenges, but it also brings excitement as I move closer to making my dream a reality."

The team have confirmed the venue will be dog-friendly, with food and drink options for gluten-free and vegan diners.
The building was formerly home to Hanoi Social, a Vietnamese-inspired street food restaurant which closed in 2024. Having opened in 2018, the owners cited a "downturn in business" and "other internal challenges" as factors behind the closure.
Announcing the closure in 2024, they said: "We extend our deepest gratitude to all our patrons. Your loyalty and love have been the cornerstone of our success.
"As we, the owners, embark on new adventures, we are excited to pass the torch to new tenants who will bring fresh ventures to our cherished premises."
