New bottle shop and delicatessen planned for former Hoole watch shop

An independent bottle shop and delicatessen has applied for a premises licence to open in the former Watch Nation unit in Hoole.
Hooleigans Bottle Shop & Delicatessen is planning to open at 15-17 Charles Street, selling a range of British and Italian food and drink, including cheeses, charcuterie, olives, pasta, sauces and alcoholic beverages.
The business has applied for permission to sell alcohol for consumption off the premises only, with proposed opening hours of 9am to 10pm, seven days a week.
The store replaces retail watch store Watch Nation, which moved to a different site on Bridge Street Row East earlier this year.
According to the licensing application, the double-fronted shop would combine a traditional delicatessen with a specialist bottle shop. Chilled displays would stock cheeses, charcuterie and other deli produce, while shelves would offer ambient food products alongside a selection of alcoholic drinks.
Customers would be served from a counter near the entrance and at a separate deli counter. The application also outlines plans for staff-only storage and preparation areas at the rear of the premises.
Although the business would initially operate as a walk-in retail store, the owners say they intend to launch an online shop in the future, allowing customers to order products for dispatch directly from the Hoole premises.
The application states that no alcohol would be consumed on the premises, with the licence sought solely for off-sales.
