A new bar is set to open on Northgate Street next month.

Wonky Tusk, located at 64 Northgate Street, is aiming to welcome customers by mid-August, its owners have confirmed.

Before opening to the public, the business plans to hold a soft launch for a small group of independent business owners from the surrounding area.

A spokesperson said: "We are aiming for mid August, but it will be late August at the latest. As you're probably aware, a lot of speed bumps on the way!

"We're looking at doing a soft launch with a handful of local independent business owners around the area to catch our footing and say hello to our neighbours, then we'll be open to the general public right afterwards!"

Plans for the venue were outlined in a licensing application submitted to Cheshire West and Chester Council earlier this year.

The application, submitted by licensee Desmond Richard Piercy, described Wonky Tusk as a small bar with capacity for approximately 30 to 35 people.

It also states the business intends to apply for a pavement licence to allow outdoor seating, similar to other venues on Northgate Street.

The premises were previously occupied by My Funny Valentine Bridal, which closed in June. Owner Hanni Frankland-Roberts said growing family responsibilities had led to the decision to close the business.
