An upmarket restaurant and bar is set to open at Chester Northgate this month.

Popina will open on Saturday 25 April, promising a relaxed, Mediterranean-inspired setting with a focus on cocktails and small plates.

Confirming the launch on social media, the owners said: "Popina isn't going to feel like anywhere else in Chester."

Located next to the Picturehouse cinema, the venue will also feature a resident DJ on Fridays and Saturdays, playing from early evening through to late night, as part of its weekend offering.

A premises licence application for the vacant unit was submitted in March 2024, describing the business as an "upmarket wine/cocktail bar" serving charcuterie and small plates, with chilled music and a laid-back atmosphere designed to create a relaxed social space.
