Multiple fire crews were in attendance last night (Wednesday 19 February), bringing a fire under control at a Chester waste sorting site.

At 8.17pm, two fire engines from Chester, one from Runcorn, Warrington and Powey Lane, plus the aerial ladder platform from Chester attended a fire at a waste site on Liverpool Road.

Two more fire engines from Deeside (North Wales Fire and Rescue Service) also joined the effort.

The incident was organised into sections and assessed using the aerial ladder platform.

Water supplies were established and firefighters are tackled the fire externally.

At 9.47pm, the incident was reduced to two fire engines and the aerial ladder platform. The main seat of the fire was extinguished and waste was removed from the area to prevent further fire spread.

Just over ten minutes later, the aerial ladder platform was released from the incident and an investigation into the cause of the fire was underway.

A main jet was used to continue to dampen down the area.

Firefighters continued to dampen down the area fire using a hose reel jet and a main jet, and a thermal imaging camera was used to check for hotspots.

Crews left the incident just after midnight.

The incident is believed to have been caused accidentally.
