Police have launched an appeal after a man died in a collision on Hoole Bridge in the early hours of Thursday morning.

At around 3.50am on Thursday 21 May, police were called to reports of a crash on Hoole Bridge in Chester. Officers attended and found the incident involved a cyclist and a silver Toyota Yaris.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

The driver of the Toyota fled the scene on foot shortly after the collision.

Cheshire Police are now appealing for witnesses and any available dashcam or video footage. Enquiries into the circumstances of the incident remain ongoing.

Sergeant Russell Sime said:"As part of our investigation into the circumstances of this tragic incident, we're keen to hear from anyone who witnessed what happened or anyone with any dashcam or video footage which aid the investigation.

"We're also keen to hear from anyone who may have any footage of the silver Toyota prior to the collision, or footage of anyone leaving the area immediately after the incident."

Anyone with any information or footage is asked to contact Cheshire Police on 101, or via the website quoting IML 2332883.
