A brand new £70m development on the edge of Chester was recently unveiled at a ceremony attended by The Lord Mayor of Chester.

Retirement Villages Group (RVG) has now unveiled The Wyldewoods, a £70m development that sets a new benchmark for retirement living in the UK.

Bringing 155 high-quality apartments together with five-star amenities open to both residents and the wider community, The Wyldewoods is the first community to launch under RVG's new Thrive Living collection.

The project combines independent later living with shared spaces - from a restaurant and wellness suite to landscaped grounds, designed to keep over-65s active, independent and supported.

Its opening was marked with a celebration attended by Cllr Sherin Akhtar, The Lord Mayor of Chester, who described the community "as an important addition to the city of Chester".

Cllr Akhtar added: "It was clear from visiting and meeting the residents that this is a development of exceptional quality that people are proud to call home."

During the celebrations there was a performance by local samba band Karamba Samba, live music from Clarinetics and a taste of the health and wellbeing activities on offer - including Pilates and pamper sessions.

Adam Tomlinson, general manager at The Wyldewoods, added: " This is a landmark moment for everyone at The Wyldewoods,.

"We are committed to creating a vibrant sense of place and belonging to support the independence and wellbeing of our residents, while also providing new amenities that can be enjoyed by the wider Chester community."

Tim Seddon, CEO of Retirement Villages Group, added: "The Wyldewoods is the first jewel in the crown of our new Thrive Living collection.

"It embodies our vision for retirement living - sustainable, open, and connected to local life. Our goal is to give older people choice and independence while making a positive impact on the wider community."

Sustainability is central to the development, which will operate as a net zero carbon community through energy-efficient design, air source heat pumps, and on-site renewable generation.

At the heart of The Wyldewoods is the clubhouse, home to a bar, restaurant, lounge, café and private dining room - all open to the public.

A fitness centre, treatment rooms and wellness suite reinforce the focus on healthy living, while the landscaped gardens provide green space for residents and visitors alike.
